Help: how to register, how to log in

Here's all  the information Prescrire International subscribers will need to register online for the Prescrire in English website, including how to obtain and use your online access codes.

How do I register online?
You must be a subscriber (only current subscribers to Prescrire in English who are registered online may access the subscriber-only content on the Prescrire In English website).

  • Click on "Register online", the link located in the top right-hand corner of every page of the Prescrire in English website.
  • Fill in the "Register online" form with the following information:
  • Your Subscriber number. For help see > How do I find my subscriber number?
  • The postal code for the address at which you receive your copy of Prescrire International. For help see > How do I find my delivery address?
  • A valid e-mail address, which will be your login name for the site.
    Important: all messages concerning your online registration will be sent to this e-mail address.
    Type in this e-mail address, and then type it in a second time to confirm.
  • The password of your choice. Your password must contain between 6 and 12 characters and must be made up of numbers and/or letters (lower-case or upper-case), with no accented characters, symbols or punctuation marks. When you log in, you will need to enter the lower-case or upper-case letters in your password as originally entered.
    Type in this password, and then type it in a second time to confirm.
  • Click on "OK"

This login name and password will be your access codes allowing you take advantage of all the online services included with your subscription.

Who can register online?
You must be a subscriber to register online. Only subscribers to Prescrire in English who are registered online may access the subscriber-only content on the Prescrire In English website.

How do I find my subscriber number?

  • On any correspondence sent by Prescrire's Subscriber Services department (invoice, statement, welcome letter);
  • On the mailing label accompanying your copy of Prescrire International.
  • Your subscriber number includes a maximum of 6 figures.

How do I find my delivery address?

  • On any correspondence sent by Prescrire's Subscriber Services department (invoice, statement, welcome letter);
  • On the mailing label accompanying your copy of Prescrire International.

I did not receive the e-mail confirming my online access codes

  • First, check the "undesirable" folder of your e-mail account. The message may have ended up there. In order to avoid this problem, we recommend that you put the address "international@prescrire.org" in the "safe senders" list of your e-mail account.
  • If you are still unable to locate the e-mail message, and you do not remember the login and/or password you selected when you registered online,

I encountered the error message "An online registration has already been set up using this subscriber number"
Only one online registration, and only one online account, may be opened per subscriber number. There is already an online registration set up for the subscriber number that you just tried to use for your registration.

  • Perhaps there is an error in the subscriber number.

  • If it was you who set up the earlier registration, please use those access codes.
  • If you have forgotten your login/password, see > Forgot your login/password?
  • If the subscriber number you are using is correct, and you are indeed the holder of  that subscription, please contact Prescrire's Subscriber Services department, at relationsabonnes@prescrire.org, giving an explanation of the problem and an e-mail address where you can be contacted.

How do I log in (access codes)?
You must be a subscriber, and must register online to receive your online access codes (login name and password).

How do I change my login name?

  • Your login name is the e-mail address that you selected when you registered online.
    All messages concerning your online registration will be sent to this e-mail address
  • To change your login name (e-mail address) please go to : 
    My Prescrire > Change your access codes > Change your login name

How do I change my password?

  • Your password is the one you selected when you registered online.
  • To change your password, go to: 
    My Prescrire > Change your access codes > Change your password
  • Your password must contain between 6 and 12 characters and must be made up of numbers and/or letters (lower-case or upper-case), with no accented characters, symbols or punctuation marks. NB: when you log in, be sure to enter the lower-case or upper-case letters in your password as originally entered.

Access codes (login name and password) not recognised
There are several possible reasons for this:

Forgot your login name (e-mail address)?

  • If you have forgotten your login name, have your subscription number and delivery address handy, and see  > Forgot your login/password?
    New access codes (login name and password) will be sent to the e-mail address that you selected as your login name.

  • If the e-mail address that you selected as your login name is no longer valid,
    please contact the Prescrire Subscriber Services Department at relationsabonnes@prescrire.org, making sure that you include your subscriber number in any message

Forgot your password ?

  • If you have forgotten your password, have your subscriber number handy, and
    see > Forgot your login/password? 
  • A new password will be sent immediately to the e-mail address that you selected as your login name. We suggest that you log in immediately with this new password, by using a "copy-paste" in order to avoid retyping the password. Then go straight to the "My Prescrire" section and change your password, in order to set a password that will be easier for you to memorise.

I encountered the error message "A user session is already underway with this registration information"
There are 2 possible causes for this:

  • You already have a session underway in a different web browser.
    In this case, if you wish to switch to another web browser, close your original session first by clicking on the "Log out" link, located at the top right-hand corner of each page of the website.
  • You may have exited the Prescrire website without ending your session by clicking on "Log out", for example by closing the window of your web browser.
    The session will disconnect automatically 20 minutes after your last action online. You will then be able to open another session.
  • Tip: Remember to always use the "Log out" function, via the link located at the top right-hand corner of each page of the website, before closing the window of your web browser, in order to avoid this delay in the future.
