European fines for anti-generic strategies: when will penalties get tougher?

 Outlook  Anti-competitive strategies are designed to delay the market introduction of copies (generic or biosimilar versions) of originator drugs. Such copies are a major source of savings for third-party payers. The significant impact of anti-competitive strategies on national finances is only marginally mitigated by the amounts of the fines imposed on pharmaceutical companies, which are a pittance in comparison to their revenues.
