Getting back on track

Drug companies are simply filling the void left:

  • by the health agencies, which are putting the financial health of the pharmaceutical industry before patients' interests;
  • by patients who are sometimes too naive or inadequately organised; and
     
  • by healthcare professionals who are sometimes too credulous or "under the influence".

Patients and healthcare professionals must act together to ensure that governments assume their responsibilities, especially when it comes to protecting public health.
