GLP-1 agonists: Wernicke encephalopathy

 Adverse Effects  In 2025, a French team described a case of Wernicke encephalopathy in a woman with obesity, who had been injecting semaglutide for one year. This team identified a total of 19 other cases of Wernicke encephalopathy in patients on semaglutide, liraglutide or tirzepatide. This vitamin B1 deficiency appears to be related to reduced food intake and vomiting.
